Vaduz Game

Message par jonesy »

We are booked into hotels in Switzerland. The Zurich Street Parade then a week later the Saxon Apricot Festival. So luckily I will be able to see Sion play on the Sunday against Vaduz. I thought Vaduz was in Liechtenstein so I will be watching an international match! I am looking forward to the game and to some of the sausages and wine outside.

Well done to Switzerland in the World Cup. I wish England had done half as well. Then again I think they actually did half as well! A terrible performance.

I am getting used to your temperatures as we are having a heatwave here. 25C! Warnings have been given out by the government health authority.

Let us hope that Sion have won some games by the time they play Vaduz.

Good luck to Sion.

PS after some adverse comments the last time I posted in English only, I have used Madame Google to translate!

PPS Rochdale got promoted to the 3rd tier (1st Division!), remarkable for the money they have. However we have sold our top scorer! The money (£750,000) will keep the club going. Unfortunately it is the only way clubs with small attendances like Rochdale can survive.

****************************************************************

Good trip in Switzerland and welcome !

Hey Jonesy,

Always a pleasure to have some news from another country.
Congrats on the promotion, Rochdale ! I hope they will perform well and be able to stay in this league.

Switzerland played well during the world cup (appart from the game against France §-) ). And we were unlucky against Argentina... I really like the England national team but this year I was disappointed by them ! For sure, the Premier League will be a better level. I am planning to go to Liverpool in November to watch a game (it's pretty difficult to buy tickets).

It won't be the most exciting match against Vaduz but I hope you will see plenty of goals. Vaduz just got promoted from the Challenge League (second division). I am confident that it will be a better season for Sion than the last one because we don't have a lot of new players and the test-games were good. We just had an issue with the coach. Did you read about it ?

I wish my english wasn't too bad and I am looking forward to reading you soon.

Hello walizerblood,

Thank you for your welcome. It sounds a good day out but my wife enjoys the Street Parade and I think she would kill me if I went to two football matches on our holiday!! She is not interested in football. I do not understand why!! O:-) :biere:

Bonjour walizerblood,

O:-) :biere:

Hello Valesco09,

Thank you for the support for Rochdale. They will need it! As long as they keep the present manager they will be OK.

The English players seem to keep their best efforts for the Premier League not England. There seems less effort when playing for their country. We need younger players with more fight in them. The players have too much money and know it is from the Premier League. I hope you get to Liverpool. Are you there on holiday? It is good that they got rid of Suarez, a strange person! You may see Rickie Lambert play (ex Rochdale).

I did not read about the Sion coach. What happened? You can never predict whether a match will be good. Two good teams often cancel each other out.

Thank you for replying in English. It is very good. My French is poor which is why I have to use Madame Google. I will translate this reply as some people think it is bad to chat in English.

Best wishes and have a good week. :biere:

Bonjour Valesco09,

:biere:

I agree with you for the english players. But, when they play for their national team, they must be proud and play as well as they can (specially during the world cup). There will be new young players in the team, because Gerrard and few others will leave the team. I read that Hodgson will go on as coach of England.

If I can have tickets, I will go to Liverpool for a few days. Otherwise, I may go to London. I went there last year to watch QPR and Fuhlam (I like Craven Cottage :-D )
That's right for Suarez... he's weird even if he is a great player. Liverpool received plenty of money with this transfer !

The president of Sion, Mr. Constantin, hired Mr. Gentile as coach for the new season. When they started the trainings one month ago, the coach wasn't there for meeting the players and he didn't say anything to the president. We didn't know where he was and why he didn't come during severals days. Finally, he never came and the coach is the assistant coach of the last season. The players really like him. I hope he will stay the whole season.

Have a good day ! Cheers !

Hi Valesco09,

I agree about the team playing for their country. Don Revie once offered a win bonus to England players. The players were annoyed saying they should aim to win without money as they are playing for their country.

I am sure Sion will be better off with a coach they respect and like rather than a “big name” who is brought in from outside.

Good luck with tickets. I went to Fulham a long time ago and enjoyed the view from the back of the stand overlooking the Thames. Probably a big stand there now! Never been to Liverpool FC.

Have fun. :bien:

Salut Valesco09,

S'amuser. :bien:

Well, we are in Sion and I am looking forward to the game tomorrow. Went to the grasshopper game. Only 3800 there! The Sion supporters made plenty of noise. They took my bottle of water off me in case I threw it on the pitch! About 2 km away! Let's hope for a good game. Sorry it is in English. Difficult to use Madame Google on an I pad.

Thank you !nSoMn!aK. I will do some cheering for you! Thank you also for the information about the sound and light show. It will be good although the weather at the moment is bad. Looking round Sion there is little mention of the football club. The tourist information office was less than helpful and there used to be a little shop near the railway where you could buy football gifts. Gone! The town probably looks down on football? Anyway let's hope the rain stops for the weekend. :bien:

Not the greatest of games but 3 points is 3 points. I must say that Vaduz did not seem like a bottom of the table team. I am not used to the heat but it did seem hot today!?

Good luck for the rest of the season.

That should be a normal weather for the summer season in Valais but this year the weather is pretty bad... A lot of rain.
For the match, it wasn't a great match... Vaduz wanted to go home with 1 point today. As you said, 3 points is points. Good for the ranking and the morale.
